New Recruit - PC Tactical Firearms Unit AFO CT
New Recruit - PC Tactical Firearms Unit AFO CT
Begin Your Career in Specialist Armed Policing
The Ministry of Defence Police Tactical Firearms Unit (TFU) is seeking new recruits to join one of the UK's most specialised armed policing capabilities. Based at AWE in Berkshire, you'll help protect nationally significant Defence assets whilst building world-class tactical skills from the very start of your policing career.
Following successful completion of your Recruit Training Program and Initial Firearms Course, you'll be allocated to your relevant section within the TFU and booked onto the next available TFU Initial Course. Ahead of this, you'll undertake daily duties and operational tasks supporting the AWE Group station roles, giving you valuable exposure to TFU operations and a range of development opportunities to support your journey into the team.
During this period, you'll remain under TFU line management and routinely work alongside operational teams for familiarisation and tasking opportunities. Working across the wider station environment will build your understanding of partner departments and the interoperability between teams that underpins an effective operational response.
You'll also be released for additional training to build your readiness for the TFU Initial Course, which may include further firearms training, a specialist tactical suitability assessment, achieving the Level 10.5 Multi-Stage Fitness Test, and development range packages. By the time you begin the TFU Initial Course, you'll have a solid grounding in station operations and strong working relationships to support your transition into a fully operational TFU role.
