As an MDP Police Trainer, you'll design and deliver training to prepare officers for their unique role in national security.
This dynamic role combines educational expertise with security knowledge. You'll make a difference by:
Use evidence-based approaches to identify learning needs and design effective training programmes that meet individual and organisational requirements
Create engaging, innovative learning materials that bring complex policing concepts to life while meeting specified timescales and resource parameters
Deliver training across diverse formats, using methodologies that motivate and support learners
Foster safe, inclusive learning environments where all recruits can excel and actively participate
Develop and implement appropriate assessment strategies that evaluate learning outcomes and meet internal and national verification standards
Analyse assessment results to construct personal development plans and continuously enhance training effectiveness
Utilise stakeholder feedback to inform ongoing improvement of training interventions and overall learning experiences
Identify and incorporate emerging best practices and innovations in learning and development to keep MDP training at the forefront of policing excellence

Terms
While this position is currently firearms exempt, it requires annual completion of the Job-Related Fitness Test and Personal Protection Safety Training along with MOD mandatory training. Please note that if you move into an Authorised Firearms Officer - Counter Terrorism (AFO-CT) role at any point during your employment with the MDP, whether or not you are initially employed in such a role, you will be required to undertake full firearms training.

Qualifications
Essential:
Must hold a Level 3 Award in Education and Training or equivalent qualification.
Hold a Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training or equivalent qualification or be willing to achieve in first 12 months in post.
Competent and operating within the Police Sector Standard for the Training of Trainers (‘Trainer Standard’).
Knowledgeable in the subject matter in which training is developed and delivered.

Our Learning & Development Team will be hosting an on-line information session on Wednesday 2 July 2025 at 6pm - 7pm for those interested in applying for this process.

Assessment Day & Interview
An assessment day for those who pass the sift will be held at DSPS, Southwick Park, on dates to be confirmed. This will include a suitability interview and fit test.
Medicals for successful candidates will take place at locations and dates to be confirmed. Successful candidates will be expected to take up appointment on the first available course once ready to be employed.

Eligibility
Serving police officers and police officers who have recently left policing (within 36 months) are invited to apply.
Applicants should be able to evidence a credible and relevant policing record.
Applicants must be a sole British National and British Passport holder and willing to undergo security vetting clearance to Security Clearance (SC) level with enhanced security checks. Applicants will also be subject to Police Vetting checks.
Applicants will be required to pass a pre-employment medical and the Job-Related Fitness Standard (Physical Employment Standard) prior to employment.
Applicants must hold a UK manual car driving licence with no more than 6 live penalty points.
